Anytime I see someone talk about the clash between the Strawhat Pirates and the Blackbeard Pirates they talk about the matchups that will happen between them. How Doc Q will face chopper, Usopp vs Van Augur, Zoro vs Shirui, etc. I don't think Luffy's Iconic clash with the Blackbeard pirates will be a clash of 1 on 1s like everyone thinks it is and heres why.

I want you to think of all of the fights that Blackbeard has had the one vs Ace, Summit war, Killing thatch, Magellion,  whitbeard, the heard pirates, and the Kuga. These fights have 1 thing in common they were unfair fights and they weren't straight up one on ones. When Blackebeard takes his  fights it's almost never a 1v1 it's he's almost always jumping the person. Even if you consider the fight with Law there were no 1v1s they all fought blackbeard as a team.

What does that mean? I believe that when Blackbread is ready to confront Strawhat Luffy he will do so in a way that it will be to his advantage. Luffy leads with his heart not his mind and he will be tricked and led away from his crew trapping him. All while Blackbeard and his crew is slowly  picking off strawhat members.

They'll do this by stacking the deck and forcing the matchups in which they are gurateed to win.

Think:

  • Usopp vs Jesus Burgess- someone who uses close combat
  • Zoro vs van augur - because ranged fighters (kinda) would force him to think outside the box
  • Nami vs Shiryu - she would also have difficult with close combat as well

I don't think they'll finish the fights this way but at first they might start this way because Blackbeard isn't about honor. So it doesn't make sense to me that when they fight the straw hats; that all the sudden they'd be like okay we need to 1v1 to prove we're better. When they've never cared about that ever.

To me, the black beard pirates they only care about one thing and that is winning. Nothing else matters to these people they will be whatever it takes to win even if that means cheating or an unfair fight.
